THE MOST EFFECTIVE APPROACH TO KETAMINE

Ketamine Benefits
WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE A THERAPIST?

Having a therapist that you consistently work with is very much honored and supported. The ketamine journey is a brief, adjunct therapy to reset your brain to optimize your growth and healing process. I will serve as your guide for the six to eight weeks that we work together. Following this process, you are encouraged to continue your therapy with your original therapist. I will gladly provide your therapist and other medical practitioners a Summary of Treatment to update them about your treatment.

KETAMINE-ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY (KAP)

By combining psychotherapy with ketamine treatment, the healing process is accelerated to help you to untangle what has been keeping you stuck.

While there are programs that provide ketamine in the form of a lozenge and conduct therapy over tele-health, we have found that the most successful way to achieve long-lasting benefits is to use in-person ketamine infusion therapy in the context of a therapeutic process and relationship.

Our psychotherapy-guided program will prepare you for your ketamine sessions, support you in exploring your heart and mind during the treatment sessions, and assist you in integrating your experiences afterward.

In our program, each patient has a treatment team consisting of Dr. Bhasin, his medical staff and licensed psychotherapist Amelia Mora Mars. This treatment team will follow you through the entire process of the treatment, and work with your other providers to ensure the treatment can be best utilized and integrated back into your long-term plan.

HOW DOES KETAMINE WORK?

Ketamine is a FDA-approved anesthesia drug that is used daily in hospitals and emergency rooms across the country. It is a safe, evidence-based, and legal drug that is used successfully in conjunction with psychotherapy to accelerate healing and wellbeing.

I collaborate with board-certified anesthesiologist Paramdeep Bhasin, MD, a leading provider of cutting-edge ketamine-based therapies and IV therapy solutions for all patients.

Ketamine works to stimulate the growth and regrowth of neurotransmitters in the brain, essentially rewriting the parts of the brain causing distress. Up to 70% of patients may be able to find relief from the symptoms after a series of IV ketamine infusions.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?

Ketamine Feels Like
KETAMINE-ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY (KAP)

You may experience feelings of relaxation, floating, lowered defenses, and mild dissociation which can be effective for focusing on particular narratives that keep you trapped in the past.

This can be especially valuable in trauma work, as you are not attached to any particular memory during treatment and are free to let things go.

Because ketamine treatment is also an important emotional experience for many, our calm and supportive environment will aid your healing. You will be awake during the infusion but in a deep state of relaxation.

RESET YOUR LIFE

Drug-Resistant Depression
DRUG-RESISTANT DEPRESSION
Ketamine has also shown effectiveness against treatment-resistant depression. Many patients who have not responded to other treatment or experience adverse side effects are restoring their hope with ketamine infusions.

POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder affects individuals who have experienced a traumatic situation. Veterans, first-responders, and survivors of accidents or violence may experience continued fear and stress after the incidents. This condition can disrupt daily activities and minimize your quality of life.
Anxiety
ANXIETY
Anxiety is one of the most common mood disorders affecting Americans. Anxiety conditions, including social anxiety, separation anxiety, and general anxiety, can prevent people from living their life to the fullest.

Childhood Trauma
CHILDHOOD TRAUMA
Many of my clients have experienced emotional and physical pain in their childhoods. It is common to see these patterns passed down from generation to generation.

These children grow up feeling invisible, abandoned, neglected, unloved, and unworthy. Guilt and shame accompany childhood trauma.

Ketamine relaxes the body, heart and mind to allow transformational healing to occur without logic or defenses getting in the way.

Postpartum Depression
POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION
The birth of a baby can illicit powerful emotions, from excitement and joy to fear and anxiety. But it can also result in something you might not expect — depression.

Some new moms experience a more severe form of depression after childbirth. Common symptoms are sadness, isolation, irritability, exhaustion, feelings of worthlessness and inability to make decisions.

Ketamine relieves the symptoms of depression in as little as one treatment, giving a new mother her life back without affecting her breast milk.
IVF-Depression
IVF-RELATED DEPRESSION
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a psychologically distressing life event. It is costly, often isolating, and can be a traumatic, emotional rollercoaster.

For many women, their struggles with infertility have left them emotionally vulnerable, feeling angry, depressed and anxious. It can also put additional stress on relationships, intimacy and your connection with others.

Ketamine helps to manage the many ups and downs experienced by women seeking pregnancy through IVF.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE KETAMINE EXPERIENCE?

On the day of your appointment, we will bring you into a soothing and calming environment. You will receive the infusion in one of our comfortable reclining chairs. We want to create a safe, relaxing environment in which your body and brain has every opportunity to reset.

As the ketamine takes effect and your journey begins, you will share what you are experiencing with me. Along the way, I will guide you according to the intention that you have set for each session. Throughout treatment, I will be by your side, and will interact with medical staff to monitor your experience.

I will take careful attention of your journey so that we can discuss your experience at your integration session.

Following your treatment session, I’ll offer you water or tea and a snack. The remaining time will be used to ‘anchor’ the aspects of the experience that you felt were particularly impactful. Expect that the medicine is still interacting on your brain, body, and psyche for an entire day even if the intensity of the initial effects is not fully felt.

We require that you have a person available to drive you home. For most patients, the effects wear off within minutes to hours.

We frequently check in with our clients to check on their progress, during and even after treatment. We rely on our patients to communicate with us, so we can modify and amplify treatments to meet their needs, because we recognize that everyone heals at a different pace.

INTEGRATION SESSION

Integration psychotherapy sessions take place in my Westlake Village office or are provided via tele-health for your convenience.

During our follow-up session, I will remind you of portions of the journey that occurred but were forgotten due to the intense nature of the experience. At these important session, we have the opportunity to explore how your mind and thoughts are shifting as well as discuss your intentions for subsequent sessions.
